President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian football stars Ademola Lookman and Chiamaka Nnadozie, as well as the Super Falcons, for their triumphs at the 2024 CAF Awards held in Marrakech, Morocco.

Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman was named the CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year, while Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie clinched the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award. Additionally, the Super Falcons were honoured as the Women’s National Team of the Year.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the athletes as “worthy ambassadors” of Nigeria. He lauded their achievements for bringing honour to the nation on both the continental and global stages.

“These athletes embody the essential Nigerian spirit. They signpost the best in us as a nation. Let no one ever write us off. I am incredibly proud of them,” the President said.

Tinubu highlighted their determination, discipline, and confidence, stating that their recognition by Africa’s highest football authority serves as a source of inspiration for younger athletes. He expressed confidence that their victories would encourage others to pursue their dreams relentlessly.

“Thank you for making Nigeria proud and keeping our flag flying. Thank you for winning medals for Nigeria both at home and abroad. You will win more in the future,” he affirmed.

The President emphasized that their achievements align with his administration’s vision of building a Nigeria where everyone thrives and succeeds.

The CAF Awards celebrate Africa’s finest football talents, and this year’s event, held at the Palais des Congrès in Morocco, further underscored Nigeria’s continued excellence in football.
