Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen continued his blistering form on Saturday, scoring twice as Galatasaray defeated Sivasspor 4-1 in a Turkish Süper Lig clash at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex.
The 26-year-old forward’s brace brought his season tally to 33 goals across all competitions, surpassing his previous best of 31 goals set during the 2022/23 campaign with Napoli.
Osimhen struck in the 15th and 31st minutes of the first half, setting the tone for Galatasaray’s dominant display. Lucas Torreira and B.A Yilmaz also found the net for the home side, who now sit comfortably atop the league table, eight points ahead of Fenerbahce with a game in hand.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk hailed the striker’s influence, saying: “Victor is a rare talent. He not only scores goals but lifts the entire team with his work ethic and determination.”
Since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, Osimhen has been a revelation, scoring 24 league goals and propelling the club toward a third straight Süper Lig title.
Reacting to his achievement, Osimhen remained humble and focused. “Breaking my own record is special, but the main goal is to help the team win titles,” he told NTV Spor. “The support from the fans and my teammates has been incredible.”
The Nigeria Football Federation also celebrated the striker’s milestone on social media, praising his contribution to club and country.
As Galatasaray continues its title push, all eyes will be on Osimhen to see how far he can extend his incredible scoring run.
