Waidi “Skoro” Usman, national and West African featherweight champion, has vowed to send Dare “Fighting Machine,” former national champion, on retirement when they clash at GOtv Boxing Night 10 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos, on December 26.
Fighting Machine is meeting Skoro again after the later dethroned him as national champion at GOtv Boxing Night 2.
“I have defeated him before when we fought for the national title and I will do so again. He is not in my class. I am sure he watched me destroy David “Lucky Boy” Ekpeyong at Gotv Boxing Night 8. Fighting Machine should be afraid. Very afraid. Whatever machine he calls himself is an obsolete one,” Skoro boasted ahead of their challenge bout.
Also at stake is the N1.5 million cash prize and the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy for the best boxer to be chosen by journalists from boxers participating in the seven scheduled fights.
In the welterweight category, Stanley “Edo Boy” Eribo, the national champion, will take on Tanzania’s Meshack “Smart Boy” Mwankemwa, for the African Boxing Union (ABU) welterweight title bout.
Another title bout will see Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi, national and West African welterweight champion, defend his sub-regional title against Ghana’s Raphael “Iron King” Kwabena. The bout promises to be explosive, as it has the added spice of the age-old Nigeria/ Ghana sporting rivalry.
More fuel to the fire will come from the Ghanaian’s desire to avenge his loss, via a split decision, to Fijabi, at GOtv Boxing Night 9. King has vowed to prove that Fijabi did not deserve to win.
In another light welterweight clash, Rilwan “Baby’ Face Babatunde” will take on Sikiru “Omo Iya Eleja” Shogbesan. Two lightweight clashes are on the cards, one of which is the almighty grudge match between Oto “Joe Boy” Joseph/ Prince Nurudeen Fatai. Joe Boy won the two previous fights, one of which saw him dethrone Fatai, who has been seething since them.
The other lightweight duel will see the exciting Rilwan “Real One” Oladosu up against Prince “Lion” Nwoye.
In the light heavyweight division, Kabiru “KB Godson” Towolawi will take on Felix “Man Mopol” Igwe. Igwe was billed to fight Towolawi at GOtv Boxing Night 9, but pulled out at the last minute because of an injury.
