Premier League gain Chelsea are reportedly plotting a move for Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger, Vinicius Junior, with the club ready to make him the focal point of their attack.
According to Fichajes, Chelsea is interested in the 24-year-old forward, but the Blues will likely face heavy competition from PSG and Manchester United to sign him.
Vinicius had a fantastic season with Real Madrid last year, scoring 24 goals and assisting 11 times while helping Los Blancos win La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
Despite his great performance, he missed out on the Ballon d’Or, a decision that surprised many given his influence on the pitch.
According to CaughtOffside on Saturday, Chelsea’s interest comes at a time when Vinicius’ future at Real Madrid is unknown.
His present contract expires in 2027; therefore, the Spanish giants are eager to acquire his services with a new one.
However, it is said that Vinicius recently rejected a renewal proposal, sparking rumours of a probable departure from the Santiago Bernabéu.
“The Spanish outfit is keen to tie him down to a new deal. Convincing them to sell the player could be quite difficult. Apparently, Vinicius has rejected the last renewal proposal from Real Madrid, and that has fuelled further speculations surrounding his future,” the report said.
A move to Stamford Bridge would be a high-profile signing for Chelsea, who are looking for a top-tier winger to strengthen their attacking capabilities.
The Blues see Vinicius as a “world-class addition,” potentially a significant upgrade over current options Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke.
His mix of speed, skill, and goal-scoring ability might alter Chelsea’s offence, providing both creativity and firepower.
“He will add goals and creativity to the side. Also, he is a proven matchwinner at the highest level. He has shown that with Real Madrid in the big games.
“His mentality, quality, and winning experience could prove invaluable for the Blues if they can get the deal done.
“It remains to be seen whether Chelsea decide to try their luck and test Real Madrid’s resolve with an offer at the end of the season,” the report added.
Real Madrid’s reluctance to sell one of their star players makes it challenging for Chelsea to make a compelling offer for Vinicius.
However, the prospect of bringing Vinicius‘ winning mentality and technical skill to Stamford Bridge is appealing to the Blues, who are rebuilding their squad under a new era.
