Former Nigerian Senator Shehu Sani has revealed the level of disparity among senators in the Senate.
In a statement on his verified X handle on Tuesday, Sani stated that though the Nigerian Constitution stipulates equality among senators they are not equal.
Sani’s statement comes on the heels of the suspension of Sen. Abdul Ningi by the Senate on Tuesday.
Following allegations of padding the 2024 budget leveled against the executive arm of government byNingi, the Nigerian Senate, under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, wielded the big axe by suspending the lawmaker from performing his legislative activities.
In reaction, the former Kaduna Central lawmaker stated that “Constitutionally, all Senators are equal, but in the Senate, all Senators are not equal; some are more equal than others.
“All Senators know this, and every Senator is expected to obey, and the law is ‘no be everything eye see mouth fit talk am.”
