A Nigerian soldier identified as Daniel Somtochukwu has complained over the alleged arrest, brutalization, and torture of residents of Obikabia by operatives of the Nigerian Army.

In a statement on X on Saturday, Somtochukwu lamented over the fierce reaction of the Nigerian Army to bringing to book the culprits of the Obikabia attack on soldiers in Abia State.

Chronicle NG reports that no fewer than five soldiers were killed by sit-at-home enforcers in Obikabia, Abia State, by unknown gunmen.

The Army, in a swift reaction, vowed to respond fiercely in bringing the culprits to book.

However, in the early hours of Saturday, residents of Obikabia were allegedly arrested and taken to an unknown destination by military operatives.

Reacting to the invasion of homes in Obikabia by the Army, Somtochukwu, who mentioned that he served in peacekeeping missions in the troubled Northeast, decried the attack and arrest of innocent citizens in the community.

Somtochukwu, who is from the Igbo ethnic group, noted that the Army was “pumping ammunition” to kill his people.”

Somtochukwu, in a statement on X, said, “Throughout my service in the northeast, I was officially given 60 rounds till I left @HQNigerianArmy under the regime of Maj. Sani my OC in 151tf BN, but see the way they are busy pumping ammunitions to kill my people in the east and they want me to stand in one Nigeria?”
