The senator representing Kwara South, Rafiu Ibrahim, has refused to give details of a N180 million project he nominated.

The senator who is chairman, Senate Committee on banking, insurance and other financial institutions did not only refuse to give details but also went on to label Tracka, a transparency agent as ‘lazy’.

Tracka had demanded that the senator provides the status on the degraded Offa-Ojoku Afon road in Kwara South district but he refused to provide any information.

“We tracked the N180m for biological control of degraded Offa-Ojoku Afon road in Kwara South Senatorial District, Kwara state. We observed that the project has been abandoned. The construction started along Offa axis down to Ojoku town past the police station.”

Rather than provide the information, the senator tweeted, “The agency handling the project is Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria. Please go to them for details. Thank you for your concern.”

But the response of the senator did not go down well with many who felt he was deflecting the answer.

White Kaftan General replied the senator with a tweet of his own. “Dear Sen. @rafiuibrahim, you can save everybody the stress by helping with the details of this project, consider this as your constituents trying to know the status of the project and not Tracka.

Omotola Osiyemi shared his sentiment. “@rafiuibrahim Following up on this project is your core duty. That’s the mandate you’ve been given by the people. Do well to respect that mandate.”

Mikhe Brickz also expected more from the senator. “You could have replied with the correct information and picture evidence.”

While OneKwara pointed the senator in the direction of a colleague in the senate. “Dear Sen. @rafiuibrahim kindly help to avail the status of the project you facilitated for clarity purpose and show of concern to the plight of kwarans. @oluremitinubu had helped availed hers.”

On 16 July, Senator Oluremi Tinubu representing Lagos Central replied a similar question from Tracka with evidence of the projects, facts and figures.

Construction of toilets and motorized borehole facilities in the 20 schools has since been completed. I must point out however, that the projects were implemented by the Federal Ministry of Education and merely handed over upon completion. pic.twitter.com/bU5Smnt1Ne

Senator Ibrahim was not going to toe that line and he only appeared to infuriated by responses of those calling him to reply adequately.

He then described the fact-finding mission and call for accountability and transparency by Tracka as being lazy.

“Meanwhile permit to say your Tracking seems very lazy please. You need to work harder to be very effective. We appreciate your work,” he tweeted sarcastically.
