The Senate will vote on Thursday on the N2.18 trillion 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill, which was sent to them by President Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu’s request, which was read aloud in the Senate during plenary on Tuesday, was given prompt attention.
The bill’s budgetary provisions were debated, passed for a second reading, and the Committee on Appropriations was charged with interacting with the heads of concerned agencies for defence on the suggestions presented.
The committee, chaired by Senator Solomon Adeola of the All Progressives Congress, Ogun West, met with the heads of the seven affected agencies until late Wednesday night and informed journalists that the reports on the supplementary budgetary proposals would be submitted to the red chambers of the National Assembly for final consideration and passage on Thursday.
“As mandated by the Senate on the strength of President Bola Tinubu’s request, the Appropriations Committee met with heads of the affected seven agencies, and supplementary budget proposals were provided for,” Adeola stated.
“The heads of each of the agencies have defended the President’s proposals for them and convinced the committee of the need for the Senate, and thus the National Assembly, to approve the N2.17tn 2023 supplementary budget.”
“The committee has carried out the assignment given in line with the urgency required on the basis which reports for final consideration and passage of the bill, will be submitted to the Senate today (Thursday).”
