Lazar Samardzic came off the bench to score in stoppage time to give Atalanta a thrilling Champions League victory over Marseille.
The visitors appeared to be in for a trying evening, with Charles de Ketelaere’s early penalty saved and Ademola Lookman’s second-half goal called out for offside by the video assistance referee.
They had also squandered a number of good opportunities, with Raoul Bellanova heading wide from a cross despite being well placed at the far post.
But, just as it appeared that both teams would settle for a draw, Samardzic, who had only been on the field for five minutes, produced a moment of magic.
He slid past one Marseille player before hitting a beautiful goal into the back of the net.
Atalanta’s second win in the Champions League league phase brings their total to seven points from four games.
Marseille, however, has three points.
