Cristiano Ronaldo is in Real Madrid’s squad to face Manchester United on Tuesday, days after admitting he wants to return to England.

The 32-year-old had been expected to miss the Super Cup clash in Skopje having missed first-team training following an extended leave due to Portugal’s run in the Confederations Cup in Russia this summer.

Ronaldo, who is facing charges of evading £13m tax, told a Madrid court last week that he wants to return to England, according to Sky sources.

Manchester United sold Ronaldo to Real Madrid for £80m in 2009 and Jose Mourinho said last month re-signing the player was “mission impossible”.

Ronaldo signed a new-five year Real Madrid contract last November.

Following the UEFA Super Cup final against United, Real Madrid take on arch-rivals Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup first leg at the Nou Camp on Sunday night, live on Sky Sports Football from 8.55pm.

Real Madrid squad to face Manchester United:

Goalkeepers: Keylor Navas, Kiko Casilla, Luca Zidane

Defenders: Dani Carvajal, Jesus Vallejo, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Nacho, Marcelo, Theo Hernandez, Achraf Hakimi

Midfielders: Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Casemiro, Marcos Llorente, Marco Asensio, Isco, Mateo Kovacic, Dani Ceballos

Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Lucas Vazquez, Borja Mayoral
