Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have announced their intention to purchase Victor Osimhen from Napoli, offering €90 million plus €40 million for the Nigerian striker.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, PSG is the favorite in the hunt for the 25-year-old, with Liverpool poised to launch a proposal for him in the coming days.

Napoli is willing to sell the Nigerian international for a starting price of €150 million, while French giants PSG are alleged to have offered €90 million plus €40 million in bonuses.

Osimhen might replace Darwin Núñez, who has struggled to score goals, or Mohamed Salah, who is still being pursued by Saudi clubs.

Osimhen, who is wanted by a slew of other European top clubs, including English Premier League giants Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, signed a new contract with Napoli in December that ties him to the club until 2026, with the former Serie A champions including a €150 million release clause in the new agreement.

A few months later, the FIFA U17 World Cup winner revealed his intention to quit the club at the end of the season, claiming that his future destination had been determined.

This could be far from the truth, as nothing has been heard regarding his choice of destination amid swirling suspicions about his plans.

Osimhen is anticipated to replace Kylian Mbappe at PSG, who is set to join long-term admirers Real Madrid in the summer, with reports circulating that the France striker has already agreed to buy Sergio Ramos’ Madrid property.

Osimhen is expected to have an immediate impact in French Ligue 1, where he thrived for Lille, scoring 13 goals in 27 matches in 2019–2020, an achievement that drew the attention of Napoli, who spent a club record 70 million euros to purchase him from The Mastiffs in the summer of 2020.

The former Wolfsburg striker has scored 64 goals in 105 games for Napoli, including 26 goals and four assists to help the Azzurri win their first Scudetto in 33 years.
