The Police Service Commission (PSC) has issued a stern warning to anyone planning to engage in fraud or racketeering during the upcoming recruitment of Police Cadet ASPs and Inspectors.

Although the official recruitment date is yet to be announced, preparations for this year’s exercise are already underway. The PSC says it is committed to a transparent, fair, and merit-based process — and will not tolerate any form of misconduct.

The warning came from PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Salihu Argungu, during a courtesy visit to the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Kayode Oladele, in Abuja on Wednesday, 30 July.

Argungu, who was accompanied by Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, Commissioner representing the Judiciary at the PSC, emphasised that any unethical behaviour during the recruitment exercise will be “resisted” and culprits “sanctioned decisively.”

He said the PSC is keen to partner with the FCC to uphold fairness and ensure that the recruitment process reflects national diversity and constitutional values.

“There can’t be a better time to strengthen this partnership. The principles of discretion, waivers or replacement go against fairness and must be avoided,” he stressed.

FCC Chairman Oladele welcomed the PSC team, describing the visit as a reflection of strong inter-agency collaboration and shared dedication to justice, equity, and national unity.
