Protesting women set fire to the home of Michal Monday Adanchi, the district head of Bokkos town in Plateau state’s Bokkos Local Government Area, on Friday afternoon.
The incident happened at 12:30 a.m., according to a local source.
According to the source, the aggrieved Bokkos women burned the house after certain members of the community were arrested for apparent involvement in recent deaths in the area.
The traditional ruler’s mansion and administrative office were also destroyed.
“The incident began at the police station, where they expressed their anger over the arrest of some members of the community.
“After leaving the police station, they proceeded to the house of the traditional ruler, protesting that he was a sellout. A few minutes after reaching the house, they set it ablaze,” the source said.
At the time of filing this report, the spokesperson of the Plateau state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred, had yet to comment on the incident.
