The Anambra State Police Command has completed its statewide security election advocacy tour, which included visits to all Area Commands in the state’s 21 Local Government Areas by Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu and his top officers.

The drill, which ended on November 1 at the Awka Area Command, was part of the police’s commitment to ensure a smooth governorship election on November 8.

According to the CP, the tour represented the culmination of the Command’s strategic sensitization and capacity-building initiatives, which were aimed at preparing soldiers for professional and effective election security operations.

Speaking at the Awka Area Command, CP Orutugu praised the officers for their commitment and discipline throughout the advocacy campaign, highlighting the significance of impartiality, professionalism, and human rights during election duties.

The Anambra State Police Command is fully prepared to protect lives and property before, during, and after the election.

All tactical units, intelligence teams, and patrol formations are on heightened alert, with adequate logistics support and coordination among sister security agencies.

Officers are charged with maintaining vigilance and courage and upholding the core values.

Meanwhile, roads leading to Awka are seeing an inflow of police trucks arriving to conduct poll duty in various sections of the state.

Sirens blaring from cars transporting security officers to Anambra State for election duty have become a familiar sight on the state’s roadways recently.

The operatives were observed in full regalia on the Enugu-Awka, Owerri-Awka, and Onitsha-Awka routes, with their personal items loaded into vehicles.

Many citizens, however, are confident that the security presence will ensure a smooth election across the state.

Mr. Kingsley Ubaka, who plans to vote in Amansea, Awka North LGA, stated that the presence of security personnel near the voting place instills trust in voters.
