An inspector with the Rivers State Police Command, identified as Maxwell Zubu, reportedly took his own life in the Eagle Island area of Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

Zubu was said to have served as a security aide to a former chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area. The precise circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear at the time of this report.

Preliminary findings indicate the case has been reported to the police outpost at Eagle Island, which falls under the Azikiwe Police Division located at Illabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu in Port Harcourt.

A source who spoke anonymously confirmed that officers from the Azikiwe Division had visited the scene as part of early investigation efforts.

“Some policemen from the Azikiwe Police Division visited the scene as part of preliminary investigation procedures,” the source said.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, acknowledged the incident but refrained from disclosing further information.

“Yes, I can confirm, but we have commenced an investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident, and we will make our findings public,”

“For now, the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt for detailed investigation.” She stated.

    Investigation into the incident continues.
