A joint team of the police and other security operatives has been deployed to search for Laven Denty Jacob, the Plateau State House of Assembly member representing the Pankshin South constituency, who was kidnapped by gunmen on Monday night.
“Don’t worry, we are on it. I will soon make public what we have done,” the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Alfred Alabo, assured the public on Tuesday while responding to inquiries by our correspondent on what the security agents are doing to rescue the abducted lawmaker.
It was gathered that the lawmaker was abducted at his residence in the Angwan Kagji area of the Dong community, Jos North Local Government Area.
Some residents of the Dong community, including Moses Pam, who confirmed the kidnap of the lawmaker, said the kidnappers, who were masked, attacked the lawmaker around 7:30 pm while he was waiting for his security personnel to open the gate.

“They forcefully took him away from his vehicle to an unknown location. Since then, we have not seen him. So, this morning, Tuesday, some security agents came to the house in Dong and were told what happened. Some of them were seen searching for the abducted lawmaker in the bush.
“We pray that they will catch up with the perpetrators and rescue the lawmaker because he has not done anything bad to warrant his abduction,” Pam said.
Kidnappings have been reported more frequently in the Dong community in the Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State.
On September 14, gunmen kidnapped a corps member and a 300-level University of Jos student from the same residence, prompting community residents to ask for improved security in the region and throughout the state.
