The Anambra State Police Command detained Oluchukwu Anyaoku after a video surfaced online showing him expressing threats of violence and pledging to demolish all police units in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the command’s spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect was tracked down, apprehended, and taken into custody for questioning after the video of him making the threats went viral.

Ikenga claimed that police agents from the Obosi Division detained the man on Tuesday, immediately after intercepting the video, and that they also found a handgun and a cutlass in his hands.

He said, “The Anambra State Police Command has arrested one Oluchukwu Anyaoku, following the emergence of a viral online video in which the suspect was allegedly issuing threats of violence and vowing to destroy all police formations in Obosi, Idemili North LGA.

“The police operatives attached to the Obosi Division on December 2, 2025, acted immediately after intercepting the video.

“The suspect was traced, arrested, and taken into custody for questioning. The operatives also recovered a firearm and a cutlass in his possession.

“Meanwhile, preliminary observations indicate that the suspect may require professional medical evaluation, and appropriate procedures are being followed in this regard.”

According to him, the matter has been handed to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a thorough investigation and assessment of previously received information concerning the occurrence.

It was gathered on Tuesday that the Anambra State Police Command apprehended Emmanuel Osuigwe, a suspected member of an outlawed secessionist organization, during an intelligence-led operation in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

According to Ikenga, the culprit was apprehended on November 30 by agents from the Ozubulu Police Division’s leadership, who worked alongside the Ozubulu Central Vigilante.

Ikenga stated that the suspect escaped from their criminal hideout in Ukpor, Nnewi South LGA, following a quarrel with other members.

He noted that the arrest came after the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, ordered increased security surveillance and raid activities across the state.
