Mustapha Mohammed, a husband, and his wife have been arrested by the Borno State Police Command for fatally stabbing a second wife in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The arrested husband, Mustapha Mohammed, had accused his wife, Bintu Mustapha, of an alleged extramarital affair with her ex-boyfriend, according to a statement published on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Sani Kamilu Shatambaya.
On the same day, the aforementioned wife was discovered stabbed with a knife and unconscious in a pool of blood in her chamber.
He stated that after receiving the information, a team of police officers led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) went to the spot where the husband and co-wife were seen attempting to wash off the blood in order to remove evidence.
According to Shatambaya, the statement is in contrast to the mischievous and unpatriotic elements spreading false information around town that a group of gangsters entered a house at Ajilari cross Bulunkutu with the intent of stealing the housewife’s phone and stabbed her to death in the process.
He stated that the command disregard the fake rumour and set the record straight by stating the true situation of the incident.
