A candlelight procession in honour of the students who died in the Saint Academy School building collapse is currently ongoing in Jos, Plateau State.
Chronicle NG reports that no fewer than 22 students of Saint Academy, Jos, Plateau, lost their lives following the collapse of their classrooms, a two-story building, on July 10, 2024.
The collapsed classrooms, which trapped over 200 staff and students of the institution, threw the state in mourning, a development that led to the state government declaring a 3-day mourning period.
In honour of the deceased, families, friends, and strangers assembled at the school premises to pay their final respects to the late students.
The candlelight procession, which began at Jos Polo Roundabout, attracted thousands of well-wishers clad in black attire.
Our correspondent, who was at the procession venue, noted that the candlelight procession attracted people of various tribes and religions on the Plateau.
