The Plateau State House of Assembly has called on Governor Simon Lalong to sign the anti-land grabbing bill into law as it seeks to bring peace to the state.

The Assembly on Thursday explained that five out of its six demands it made to the governor have been met following the growing insecurity in the state.

The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Philip Dasun while briefing journalists said the Assembly had given the governor a two-week ultimatum to address the insecurity problems.

Dasun said, “We gave a six-item resolution to the executive governor to act on within two weeks.

“He has so far been able to address five of the items, remaining one that is ongoing, which is to implement the anti-land grabbing law to enable those occupying illegal lands in Plateau to vacate such lands and native owners to take back their lands.”

The chairman called on the executive to expedite action on the formation of the Anti-Land Grabbing Board to facilitate the process of land recovery.
