Over 700 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gumel Local Government area of Jigawa State.
The defectors were officially welcomed by the chairman of Gumel Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Rufa’i at the party’s headquarters.
Leader of the defectors, Comrade Hamisu Bekarya, said, the youths from PDP and other political parties decided to join APC due to its efforts in the development of the country.
“We decided to dump our political parties PDP, SDP and join the All Progressives Congress (APC) with aims to contribute our quota towards nation building as only APC gives more chances to youths at both local, state and federal government levels”, he said.
Speaking shortly after he received the decampees, the chairman Gumel local government, Alhaji Ahmed Rufa’i, said the decampees would be treated as any member of the party.
