A group of dissatisfied People’s Democratic Party women protested at the PDP’s National Secretariat, accusing the party’s National Working Committee of insulting and exploiting members.

The protest came after the NWC called a meeting that did not take place because no committee members showed up.

Instead, subordinate personnel were assigned to represent them, making the women feel mocked and insulted.

The concerned PDP Women’s group voiced displeasure and disappointment with the NWC’s behaviour in a statement published on X on Thursday.

They accused the committee of intimidation, exploitation, and anti-people activities.

The women declared that they would not meet with the NWC again and were willing to pay the price for independence, including their lives.

They encouraged the party to hold a national convention immediately, warning that if no action is taken, things will only worsen.

‘We want to tell PDP NWC that power belongs to the people. The name of our party is People’s Democratic Party,’ a spokeswoman for the group said.

The group also alleged that the party’s national women leader, Amina Divine Arong, “has committed sacrilege.”

“Women went to her three days ago, telling her that a woman was about to be locked up. Rather than look into the matter, she started blackmailing people.

“Today, the national women’s leader of the People’s Democratic Party called police on a group of peaceful protesters.

‘”mina, you have blackmailed us enough. And we want to say, Nigerian women, if Nyesom Wike gave us money to protest today, may it never be well with him.

“If Atiku Abubakar gave us money to protest today, may it never be well with him.”

They noted that they told the national women’s leader “that something is wrong with the party, but rather than reveal what is wrong with the party, she is blackmailing us.”

The aggrieved women also passed a vote of no confidence in the national women’s leader.

“Therefore, we pass a vote of no confidence on the national women leader of the PDP and, by extension, the NWC. Enough is enough,” the spokeswoman of the group said.
