A police spokesperson said that panic broke out briefly in a business and shopping district of Paris on Saturday after a man committed suicide.
The spokesperson denied reports of gunshots being fired.
As a result of the incident in which a man jumped to his death, police advised people to avoid the area.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, people fled the La Defense area.
Several militant attacks have occurred in Paris in recent years.
