    Otesile: Police begin manhunt for kidnappers of GO’s daughter

    The Oyo State Police Command has begun an investigation into the kidnap of Ibukun Otesile, Reverend Dr. Lekan Babatunde’s daughter.

    Otesile, a mother of two and the daughter of the founder and general overseer of Jesus Is King Ministries in Ibadan, was abducted at 8 p.m. by unknown assailants in front of her home in the General Gas neighborhood.

    Her kidnapping was originally reported in an alert issued on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Oyo State Facebook page, #CAN OYO STATE, at 10:08 p.m. on Thursday.

    The statement read, “The daughter of our beloved Reverend Dr. Lekan Babatunde was kidnapped this night, Thursday, December 4th, 2025, around 8pm. Mrs. Ibukun Otesile, the mother of 2, was kidnapped at the front of her gate at General Gas.”

    CAN called for immediate intervention from security agencies and members of the public.

    It added, “We call on HQ Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force Civil Society, and also on well-meaning Nigerians to share this information with the appropriate quarter.”

    The appeal was addressed to the “Oyo State Police Command Eleyele” and signed by “Dr. Olamide Olanrewaju, Personal Assistant/Media Aide Outgoing CAN Chairman Oyo State.”

    Speaking on the kidnap, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said, “Investigation is in progress. Updates will be provided accordingly, please.”

    His previous confirmation to the Guardian Newspaper was also noted on Friday night, with him stating, “She was kidnapped on Thursday night. The investigation is underway.

    According to the Guardian, the victim is the 2025 president of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite.
