Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has kicked against the cancellation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos governorship primary held on 2 October.

The APC governorship primary which held across the state on Tuesday was cancelled by the National Working Committee (NWC).

APC NWC led by Clement Ebri insisted that only a secret ballot voting system will be recognised in the primary between incumbent Lagos governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and contender Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Reacting to the cancellation, VP Osinbajo said the results should be accepted if the process was free and fair.

According to a source close to the Presidency, “Osinbajo is calling on State and National APC leaders to work together and ensure that today’s voting in Lagos should be honored as long as it is free and fair.

The source revealed that “there has been a lot of confusion about the election especially after APC national team released a statement that the voting did not follow agreed guidelines”.

However before this, results of the voting had been widespread all over the social media from ward to ward.

Other sources close to APC headquarters told Chronicle NG  that the VP had been advising that the best thing in the circumstances is to honor the polls except there is compelling evidence of irregularities and violation of electoral laws.
