Former Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote have met to discuss funding for the Timbuktoo Africa Innovation Fund.

The $1 billion fund for African startups is spearheaded by Osinbajo who has travelled to Rwanda and Ghana as part of a strategic effort to create awareness for the programme.

Meeting with Dangote, Prof. Osinbajo wrote on his Instagram page, “Insightful Timbuktoo Africa Innovation Fund working sessions with Alhaji Aliko Dangote @aliko_dangotegcon, exploring solutions to support young African entrepreneurs across the continent through stronger innovation ecosystems, practical policies and access to capital.”

President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Osinbajo convened on March 27 in Kigali over the implementation of the Timbuktoo Africa Innovation Foundation.

Osinbajo was also in Ghana on July 4 to launch the Pan-African Agritech Hub. The initiative, which is part of the Timbuktoo Africa Innovation Fund, aims to transform the agricultural landscape through technology-enabled solutions. Osinbajo met with President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana at the event.

The Timbuktoo Africa Innovation Fund was inaugurated at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2024.
