Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio marked his 61st birthday not with pomp but with purpose, using the occasion to host a transformative leadership colloquium that placed people-centred governance at the heart of national progress.

Held in honour of his milestone birthday, the Julius Maada Bio Leadership Colloquium became a platform for reflection, service, and renewed commitment to inclusive leadership. Among the highlights was a keynote speech by H.E. Professor Yemi Osinbajo, former Vice President of Nigeria, who delivered a powerful message on democracy rooted in equity, justice, and the everyday lives of citizens.

“Turning 61 wasn’t just a personal milestone; it was a reminder of purpose,” President Bio shared. “We are called to lead with impact and integrity.”

The event drew thought leaders, civil society voices, and citizens from across Sierra Leone and beyond. Discussions spanned vital themes—education reform, gender equity, and youth empowerment—areas in which the Bio administration has pledged sustained action.

President Bio closed the day with a message of gratitude and determination. “I’m more committed than ever to building a Sierra Leone where every citizen can thrive,” he affirmed.

This year’s colloquium not only celebrated a birthday but reaffirmed a legacy in the making—one that places service, inclusion, and transformation at the forefront of national leadership.
