The founder of Isreal Peniel Court, Rachel Omotosho, a faith-based organization for young persons, has urged students at all academic levels to shun all forms of distractions in pursuit of excellence in their academic dreams.

This was the central message at the ‘Appointment with Destiny’ prayer and mentorship programme organized by the organization in Lagos on Saturday.

The programme which has in attendance students and examination candidates drawn from various educational institutions had participants involved in academic talks, prayers and mentoring sessions.

Speaking to Chronicle NG on the sidelines of the event, Omotosho, the founder of the organization described the programme as a divine instruction to encourage students who are undergoing milestone certificate examinations.

She said, “This programme is strictly an instruction from God to every year organize this programme to encourage students that are going through different milestone examinations because we realize that most of them go through a lot of anxiety and pressure during this season.

“The goal is just to inspire young people that they have what it takes to come out successfully in every examination, every milestone examination that they can do.”

Omotosho further stressed the need for a collaborative effort of both the educational institutions and parents to ensure students attain the required success in their academic pursuits.

“We’ve always had students who have come out successfully because of the mentorship sessions they had with us, and because of the prayer sessions they had with us as well.

“Based on the follow-up that we do, sometimes we relate to their parents because they drop their parent’s contacts…and the feedback we receive from their parents is usually a good one. Many parents and school leaders have this to say; thank you Mrs Omotosho, this program has impacted my child or students as the case may be.”

On the impact of the mentorship programme on students, she said, “We work with their minds towards self-discovery. It helps them to understand their skills and how to develop, how to sharpen their skills.

“Most of them are brilliant, okay, but they don’t see a need to do more reading, you know, and then so during the mentorship session they have the opportunity to learn newer ways of developing their skills and their abilities and discovering themselves, discovering new paths, you know, and the options they have in life.”

Stressing the need for adequate preparations before examinations Omotosho urged students to make their academic activities a daily routine.

“For every growth you need to experience in life, you need, to be tested you need your abilities, your skills need to get tested and it’s normal and it is a norm for you to know that Okay…for you to come out successful…you need to always get your self prepared.

“So preparation doesn’t start when the examination is around you. It starts with your everyday activity, what you do on a daily basis. So knowing fully well that as long as you’re always gravitating towards growth and development…you will always come face to face with different tests and examinations in life and being prepared is still a major way to succeed.”
