The United States authorities have issued a wanted notice for Olalekan Abimbola Olawusi, a 48-year-old Nigerian man, promising a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

The suspect, who is believed to have fled to Nigeria, is charged with first-degree murder and two counts of grievous bodily injury to a child.

The accusations come from an April 3, 2017 incident in Providence, Rhode Island, in which emergency responders discovered Olawusi’s 3-month-old child in critical condition with bleeding from his mouth and nose.

The infant was hospitalised after suffering cardiac arrest with several injuries indicating long-term abuse, including skull and rib fractures.

Despite being placed on life support, the kid died six months later.

In April 2017, Olawusi was arrested and charged with first-degree child sexual abuse.

He was released the following day and then disappeared. The murder charge was added after the infant died on October 31, 2017.

The US Marshals Service (USMS) inquiry revealed that Olawusi flew out of New York’s through the John F. Kennedy International Airport on June 20, 2017, using his Nigerian passport.

Investigators fear that the Nigerian may be receiving aid from family members in Nigeria and potentially endanger other children.

Don Freeman, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal, issued a statement urging anyone with information regarding Olawusi’s whereabouts to come forward.

The suspect, who goes by the nickname Olekun Olawusi, stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 185 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
