Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has donated N20 million to victims of the flooding tragedy in Mokwa Local Government Area, Niger State.
Obi made the gesture on Monday during a visit to the state, and he pledged to personally visit the victims’ relatives and talk with them one on one.
The former governor of Anambra State, who was greeted by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba upon arrival at the Niger State Administration House in Minna, extended his condolences to the administration and the state’s people for the loss.
The flash flood that destroyed the Mokwa area of the state last week killed 153 people and left more than 100 missing.
The previous governor of Anambra State “prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims and for God to grant the affected families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
The Deputy Governor who received Obi commended the former Anambra Governor for his assistance to the Mokwa flood victims.
He also praised him for his charity and love for humanity, particularly in assisting natural catastrophe victims.
