    NUJ seeks collaboration in the fight against fake Journalists

    The Kano State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called for the collaboration of Nigeria Police in the fight against fake Journalists.

    The Chairman of the Council, Mr. Abbas Ibrahim, made the call when he led other Executive Members of the union on a courtesy visit to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmed Ilyasu in his office on Thursday in Kano.

    Ibrahim maintained that fake journalists are posing threat to journalism noting that journalism is a noble and profession of ethics and decorum.

    The chairman also called on the commissioner to enforce the irrelevant sections of cyber Act 2015 in curtailing hate speeches and fake news that are capable of causing chaos in the society.

    He commended the Commissioner for his track record in fighting crime and criminality in the state.

    In his remarks, Ilyasu, noted that journalists are significant forces in making sure society remained in peace.

    “Society will not develope in chaos and disorder saying that most of the conflicts emanated from hate speech”

    Ilyasu said police will do everything possible to support Nigeria Union of Journalists in discharging of its responsibilities.

    “Communication is an integral part of society it needs to propagate according to the ethics”

    Iliyasu commended journalists in the state for their commitments in publicising the activities of the command. Nigerian News
