    NMDPRA warns of recruitment scam

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has issued a warning to the public over viral claims suggesting that the agency is currently recruiting new staff.

The NMDPRA described the reports as the work of fake recruitment syndicates seeking to defraud unsuspecting job seekers.

In a statement released on its official X Twitter on Monday, NMDPRA stated that it was forced to issue the clarification because unscrupulous individuals have been exploiting economically needy Nigerians by proposing bogus job opportunities.

The fraudsters allegedly issue forged letters of employment, make hollow promises, and advertise non-existent positions while demanding enormous sums of money from optimistic candidates.

The agency reiterated that no recruitment exercise is now underway and that it is not hiring at any level. It further stated that any future recruitments will be performed in conformity with existing regulations governing employment in the Nigerian Public Service.

“We wish to state categorically that the NMDPRA is not conducting any recruitment exercise currently,” the statement read. “Neither is the agency undertaking any kind of employment in its services at any level.”

The NMDPRA warned the public to reject all bogus recruitment advertisements and to only verify claims through approved means.

The agency directed Nigerians to its official website and verified social media platforms for accurate information.

“For current and up-to-date information regarding all our activities, kindly refer to our official corporate website: www.nmdpra.gov.ng and our verified social media outlets on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram,” according to the statement.

The authority warned that fraudulent acts not only cheat citizens but also harm the agency’s credibility. It urged the public to remain watchful and report any dubious recruitment offers.
