Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has suffered criticism from Nigerians over her statement, which extolled President Bola Tinubu as he celebrates one year in office.

In a statement on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Eniola, who was recently appointed as Special Adviser to the Speaker House of Representatives on Social Events, noted that Tinubu has brought significant progress to the country.

“Congratulations on your first year in office, Bola Tinubu.

“Your dedication and leadership have brought significant hope and progress to our nation.

“We look forward to continued success and growth under your guidance,”  Eniola wrote.

However, her statement has led to severe backlash from Nigerians, who have berated her for feigning ignorance over the plight of Nigerians as a result of the Tinubu-led administration.

Reacting to her statement, social media influencer Ola Mi Lekan notes that, “These are the people destroying this country. Those surrounding the President refused to tell him the truth because of the crumbs they are getting.”

An X user simply identified as Daneva said in his reaction, “Imagine being rich in life and having dignity. Sadly, it’s different for many people who would sell their dignity for money.”

He added that “she can clearly see how the country is in chaos but would rather not care because she thinks only she matters among the millions of Nigerian citizens. One wonders how the poor are managing to survive in this torn economy. God help them all.”

“Some of these people have no conscience, because how can you say this after seeing the hardship the country has been facing since he became president?” Macy stated.

John Paul Franklin argued that “the girl just needs some money from the president.”

Damilare criticised her for deliberately turning ‘a blind eye’ to the truth about the present situation in the country.

“People like Eniola Badmus deserve a big troll; she deliberately decided not to be truthful,” Damilare wrote.
