Nigerians blast Buhari over increase in data tariff

President Muhammadu Buhari's popularity continues to dim as recession bites deeper

Nigerians have taken to social media to express their frustration at the increase in cost for data consumption, which takes effect on December 1.

Most of them have lashed out at President Muhammadu Buhari, claiming that the lanky number one citizen of the most populous black nation in the world is adding to their hardship.

Buhari who was inaugurated in May 2015 has been struggling to bring the much-preached ‘Change’ on which he rode to victory at the polls.

His administration has been battling a dwindling economy, currency crash, poor crude oil output and insecurity to some extent.

In a move to generate internal revenue, Buhari’s administration hinted that it would implement a communication tax, a move many have criticized.

Taking to Twitter to express their anger, Nigerians showed their dissatisfaction at the new data tariff with some drawing a comparison with the previous administration led by Goodluck Jonathan.

He also got a comparison with David Moyes as well.

Here are some tweets for you:

BUHARI IS NO PRESIDENT OF MINE.. MMM IS MY OWN PRESIDENT.. OSIBANJO SHOULD GO AND SLEEP.. BET9JA IS MY VICE..

    — BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!! (@BOOOMBGUY) November 29, 2016

All of you coming here to defend Buhari over this data issue may amadioha turn ur situations from GEJ to BUHARI. AMEN!!!!!!!

    — Clara obiageri (@claraobiageri) November 30, 2016

Buhari should do the honorable tin and resign….he has failed Nigeria

    — cecilia inem (@ceciliainem) November 30, 2016

All pro-buhari idiots, the Naira has lost 85% of its value under your President….let that sink in

    — John Doe (@super_voke) November 29, 2016

I campaigned for Buhari like I was campaigning for my father. I fought with my friends , ahhh ???? I feel betrayed ! I'm so hurt

    — lil lilian liliest (@HeyOlajide) November 29, 2016

Buhari is just another David moyes

    — T800 (@Suguain) November 30, 2016

I don't know how laughing at people that Voted Buhari is helping.
Okay you voted Jonathan, do you get a different data plan?

    — Mugiwara (@Somms_N) November 29, 2016

Buhari was never a better option. All you needed to see that was common sense.

Now look at us, slaves to MMM and other pyramid schemes

    — JAJA™ (@JajaPhD) November 29, 2016

If Buhari is TIRED of Criticism from Nigerians, rather than cut them off from SOCIAL MEDIA with Tariff,he should RESIGN #NoToTariffIncrement

    — Follow Wailers (@NGRWailers) November 29, 2016

Buhari has turned his strongest supporters like Obasanjo to critics in just 18 months.

That is how bad one can be.
    Buhari is that bad.

    — Olympus (@vicndulewe) November 29, 2016

When buhari was shouting CHANGEE!!, funny how he neglected to mention the masses would be the ones to pay for it BIGTIME.

    — OBI (@Mrdantova) November 30, 2016

So far, president buhari has been the most useless president I've witnessed in Nigeria ..

    — Alli (@Onflood_) November 29, 2016

The reason we keep talking about GEJ is cos you people keep bringing him up…is Buhari failing?? Yes!!! Does that make GEJ a success??No!!

    — Y.O. (@yojora) November 29, 2016

If Buhari wants to increase data, he should at least level Naira back to what it was first.

Don't come to problem you created for us.
