The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has responded to a social media user who shared a picture of the commission’s headquarters in Abuja as a hotel up for sale.

In a post on X, a verified user @osere_x, listed the commission’s property as a “hotel” in the nation’s capital city of Abuja, pegging purchase of the facility at N800 million, with an additional N120 million in agent fee.

“HOTEL AVAILABLE. Location: Abuja. Price – 800M. Agent fee – 120M. Only serious buyers should DM,” @osere_x, on the social media platform, wrote.

The post had garnered 1,200 reposts, 670 replies, over nine thousand likes, and 601,000 views as of 5pm on Tuesday, February 10.

Among those who engaged the post was the EFCC through its verified account.

“Hmmm…. You get mind ooo,” the anti-graft agency replied under the now viral post, which loosely translates to: “You do have guts.”

The response attracted thousand of reactions as well and further amplified the discourse.

Shortly after, the original poster responded to the EFCC with a follow-up comment written in Pidgin English.

“Na una building? I even think say na kfc,” he wrote, an apparent reference to Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), an international fast-food chain.
