Nigerian bachelors have blamed their inability to get married on the lack of (money) adequate financial resources.

In various statements on social media, they bachelors noted that the high financial requirements have remained a bane to getting a life partner.

”The major problem is money; every other thing doesn’t really count,” a social media commentator simply identified as Salau Prays stated.

“If I see money today, I’ll definitely get a woman I desire and settle with her. The talking stage is for broke people; the rich know what they want; they don’t keep you waiting,” he added.

Sharing similar sentiments, another social media user, Casper Promise, said, ”80 per cent of man’s problems are money, and to be honest, men want to get married, but our ladies are busy looking for guys with flashy cars and those men with millions of naira.

”Some ladies don’t want to hustle with men trying to stand. As for me, once I am done setting up my business, the next thing is marriage because it’s a beautiful thing. May the Lord help all the men.”

In the same vein, Sotonye Taylor Abbay stated that “The major issue has been finances, nothing more. Without money, even the right woman will turn out to be the wrong woman.”

For Ogunfeyemi Ade Solomon, he said, ”Just borrow me N10 million you are not using again. Don’t ask me what I want to do with it. Only accept that it’s my reason for not getting married.”

Many others buttressed that the financial requirements to meet bride price demands make the process of getting a wife an uphill task.

“Sir, what is holding me back is money; I wouldn’t lie. Once I have the money needed for the bride price, I’ll get married,” Ifaenyi Okoli argues.

Richard Osas opined that ”Women seek financially stable men… This illusion has made many youths single.”

For Huncho Vibz, he stated that he desires to establish himself financially before seeking a wife.

“My biggest challenge right now is finding my feet once again. I know there are good women out there, and I’ll locate her as my dad located my mum,” he stated.

However, for others, they argued that their reason for being unmarried is their inability to find a ”good woman”.

They mentioned that the fear of falling in love with a dishonest woman has prevented them from getting married.

”Seeing an honest woman who is ready to be committed. The rest is nothing. Not ready to marry twice,” Stanley Asu stated.

In the same vein, Arc Iyke Humble said, ”Fear of falling into the hands of the wrong woman. Like my father once said, ‘Don’t claim you’ve found success until you marry.”

Isaac Lancelot stated that ”marrying a bad wife” is his ”biggest fear”.

While the unmarried men blame their unmarried state on the lack of adequate finance to fund a wedding and raise a family, Victoria David urged men to ”cut their coats according to their sizes” and go for a low-budget wedding.

She mentioned that the benefits that come with getting a life partner should not be deterred by the lack of finance.

”Every man is shouting money; must you do a big wedding? Cut your coat according to your size, and again, for some men their breakthrough lies when they get married,” David admonished.
