    Nigeria records 1,016 new coronavirus cases

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 1,016 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Wednesday.

    The 1,016 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 86,576.

    The NCDC also announced the discharge of 537 patients from isolation centers across the country with 11 new deaths reported.

    Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported 434 new confirmed cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 29,618.

    FCT recorded 155 new cases, Plateau state recorded 94 new cases, Kaduna state reported 56, Rivers state reported 56, Oyo state reported 30 while Nasarawa announced 27 new cases.

    Other states are Zamfara-25, Abia-22, Enugu-18, Kano-18, Bayelsa-15, Edo-14, Ogun-11, Borno-10, Ebonyi-10, Jigawa-7, Anambra-4, Delta-3, Niger-3 and Osun-3.

    NCDC reports that there are 86,576 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 73,322 discharged and 1,278 deaths.
