    Nigeria passes 50,000 coronavirus cases

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 593 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Wednesday to pass the 50,000 mark.

    The 593 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 50,488.

    The NCDC also announced the discharge of 253 patients from isolation centers across the country with four new deaths reported.

    • Nigeria announces 417 new coronavirus cases

    Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported 172 new confirmed cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 17,092.

    But it was Plateau state that recorded the highest number of cases on the night with 186 cases recorded on Wednesday.

    Federal Capital Territory reported 62 new cases, Oyo recorded 27 new cases while Delta, Rivers and Ondo recorded 25, 20 and 19 new cases respectively.

    Other states are Edo-18, Kaduna-17, Enugu-12, Akwa Ibom-10, Ogun-7, Abia-6, Gombe-6, Kano-3 and Osun-3.

    NCDC reports that there are 50,488 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 37,304 discharged and 985 deaths.
