Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, a New York congresswoman, has taken a jab at Donald Trump, the Republican contender for the 2024 US presidential election, at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Ocasio-Cortez, one of the numerous speakers who endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris at the DNC on Tuesday morning, stated, “I am here tonight because America has before us a rare and precious opportunity in Kamala Harris.” We have the opportunity to elect a president who represents the middle class because she is from the middle class.
“We all know that Donald Trump would sell this country for a dollar if it meant lining his own pockets and greasing the palms of his Wall Street friends.
“The truth is, Don, you cannot love this country if you only fight for the wealthy and big business.”
As the crowd chanted her name “AOC,” Ocasio-Cortez thanked Harris and her vice president nominee, Tim Walz, as she urged the crowd to support the Harris-Walz ticket.
“In Kamala Harris, I see a leader who understands. I see a leader with a real commitment to a better future for working families,” she said.
