Troops of 8 division Garrison Sokoto has killed numerous terrorists in Tukandu Village, in the northwestern state.
Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday.
He stated that forces from the Nigerian Army began a meticulously planned offensive operation, targeting a notorious group of terrorists responsible for many terrible and heinous crimes in the surrounding area.
“In a discreet operation against marauding terrorists in Sokoto, troops’ fierce onslaught terminated many of the terrorists,” the press release said.
Nwachukwu claims that many more terrorists left with bullet wounds.
Three AK-47 rifles, one PKT pistol, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, two rocket-propelled cannon explosives, and nine motorcycles were recovered from the insurgents.
Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, praised the troops and instructed them to remain steadfast and escalate their operations against the terrorists in order to decimate and deny them freedom of action.
Sokoto is one of the North-West states targeted by bandits and terrorists who kidnap for ransom, kill people, and cause havoc in towns.
Among the other states are Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, and Zamfara.
