The Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has begun the delivery of judgment in the petition filed by the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, challenging the victory of Sanwo-Olu at the March 18 governorship election.
The main judgment is currently being read out by a member of the tribunal’s three-member panel.
He began by filing preliminary papers contesting the competence of certain sections of the petition.
The All Progressives Congress’s (APC) Sanwo-Olu was proclaimed the winner of the March 18 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Sanwo-Olu had won the election by a landslide, defeating Labour Party candidate Rhodes-Vivour.
He polled 762,134 votes to beat Rhodes-Vivour, who scored 312,329 votes. Jide Adediran (Jandor) of the PDP came in a distant third, polling 62,449 votes.
