The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Segun Dada has threatened to form a strong resistance against protesters planning to protest over the insecurity and economic hardship in the country.

In a statement on X on Tuesday, Tinubu’s aide mentioned that he and “the silent majority,” who voted for the president in the 2023 presidential election, will resist any plans to “burn the country down under whatever guise.”

“Those who want to burn the country down under whatever guise will meet the strongest resistance of their lives. Not from security agencies, but from the silent majority that gave their mandate to President Bola Tinubu for four years in the first instance. We are waiting,” Dada stated.

Chronicle NG reports that a cross-section of displeased Nigerians has been scheduled to hold a nationwide protest over the hardship, insecurity, and hyper-inflation prevalent under the Tinubu-led administration.

Scheduled to begin on August 1, 2024, the planned protest has since met several resistances, with some activists organizing the event arrested.

Chronicle NG reports that, amid the arrest of some activists by operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS, Nigerian youths vowed to remain resolute and protest an end to “bad governance” in the country.

Operatives of the DSS allegedly arrested some activists over their involvement in the planned protest.

According to reports, Bashir Abubakar was arrested by the DSS for advertising T-shirts he made for the planned protest.

Also, another activist, according to Omoyele Sowore, was remanded at a correctional facility in Kano State for posting about the protest.

The police, however, cautioned Nigerians against protesting; rather, the force urged the youths to resort to dialogue.
