President Bola Tinubu urged Muslims on Friday to exemplify the principles of selflessness and piety as the holy month of Ramadan begins.

He also told Nigerians that his administration will endeavor to keep food costs down by extending the growing season.

“I urge all Muslims observing the fast to embrace the profound lessons of piety, humility, and selflessness that this holy month embodies,” Tinubu said in his message to the Muslims as the Ramadan fasting season begins.

He defined Ramadan as a time for introspection, renewed commitment to Allah, and acts of kindness and goodwill toward others.

The president urged Muslims to deepen their links with Allah and one another, emphasizing that it is a time for spiritual refreshment, self-discipline, and empathy for those in need.

“Ramadan is a time for deep reflection, renewed devotion to Allah, and acts of compassion and generosity toward humanity.

“It is a season of spiritual rejuvenation, self-discipline, and empathy for the less fortunate.

“Let us use this period to strengthen our bonds with Allah and one another, fostering unity and peace in our communities,” he stated.

According to Tinubu, this year’s Ramadan is especially significant since it coincides with a time of renewed hope and growth in Nigeria.

He stated that his administration’s bold and innovative policies are beginning to have positive results, as evidenced by the gradual stabilization of the economy.

The Gross Domestic Product during the fourth quarter of 2024 increased significantly over the same time in 2023.

According to the President, the once-soaring costs of critical food items are now down, bringing relief to the fasting population and all residents alike.

“The Gross Domestic Product for the last quarter of 2024 showed a marked improvement over the same period in 2023.

“The once-soaring prices of essential food items are now downward, providing much-needed relief to our fasting population and all Nigerians.

“The exchange rate is stabilizing, and fuel prices are declining, signaling a brighter future,” he stated.

The president also underlined his determination to increase agricultural output, ensure self-sufficiency, and improve food security for all Nigerians throughout the rainy season.

Tinubu revealed, “As the wet season approaches, we remain steadfast in boosting agricultural productivity.

“We are determined to enhance food production and ensure self-sufficiency and food security for all Nigerians through targeted input support, mechanization, and innovative farming initiatives. Our resolve to build a resilient and prosperous nation remains unwavering.”

Tinubu called on Nigerians to unite in prayer and action for the nation’s continued growth and development, seeking Allah’s guidance and protection.

The president expressed hope that words and deeds in the sacred month will reflect a shared commitment to peace, unity, and progress.

“I extend my heartfelt wishes to all Muslims observing Ramadan for a month filled with joy, peace, and spiritual renewal.
