The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has accused the Presidency of twisting facts and misrepresenting its position on the ongoing killings of Christians across the country, claiming that what is happening in several parts of Northern Nigeria and the Middle Belt constitutes a 'Christian genocide.'

Terrorists raided the Old-Kuyelo community in Kaduna State’s Birnin Bwari Local Government area, causing villagers to flee for safety on Tuesday.

Abdulrashid Abarshi, Secretary-General of the Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressive Union, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Thursday.

According to Abarshi, terrorists raided the historic Kuyello town, forcing its inhabitants to flee their homes for fear of being kidnapped.

Abarshi said, “We received information that the terrorists have been in old Kuyello and Shadow Village since Tuesday without any challenge by the Nigerian security operatives.

“We appeal to the Nigerian military as a matter of urgency to deploy security operatives to restore normalcy in those villages.”

He pointed out that, apart from Birnin Gwari town, the next biggest town is Old Kuyello.

“As I speak to you, the terrorists are there in the village; we’re afraid that they’re not planning to take over the village and settle there,” Abarshi added.

At the time of filing this report, the state police public relations officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, did not respond to calls or a text message sent to him by our correspondent.
