Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu, committed on Monday to collaborate with Mojisola Meranda, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, to implement policies that benefit Lagosians.
Sanwo-Olu made this known while welcoming the new Speaker and other House senior officers who were paying the governor a courtesy visit at his office in Alausa, Ikeja.
The Speaker was greeted by the governor and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, soon before the weekly State Executive Council meeting.
Sanwo-Olu led the Speaker and her delegation to the Council Chamber, where the Speaker and executive members agreed to maintain a positive working relationship.
“During the courtesy visit, the speaker, her principal officers, and members of the executive council reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a harmonious working relationship.
“This alignment between the executive and legislative arms ensures that Lagos remains a model of excellence in governance. We will build on the successes of the past and work tirelessly to deliver transformational progress across all sectors. Together, we will continue to implement policies and projects that deliver on our Greater Lagos vision,” Sanwo-Olu wrote on X.com.
Meranda took over as Speaker last Monday after her predecessor, Mudashiru Obasa, was dismissed by House members over charges of wrongdoing and financial embezzlement.
Meranda presided over her first meeting on Friday, appointing new leadership and a seven-man Selection Committee.
