The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two of its policemen over the death of a civilian during an illegal operation.
This was disclosed in a statement on X by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the State Command’s Public Relations Officer.
According to the statement, the officers colluded with some civilians to carry out their nefarious activities.
He added that in the course of their illegal operation, they policemen and the civilians came under attack by some commercial motorcycle riders, which resulted in the death of one civilian.
“Two police officers attached to the Lagos State Taskforce on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, went on illegal duty, taking some civilians with them to shore up their numbers.
“They came under attack from motorcycle riders, resulting in the death of one of the civilians,” Hundeyin stated.
He added that “while disciplinary actions have commenced on the already detained police officers and searches are on for their civilian accomplices, investigations have commenced to identify, arrest, and prosecute the perpetrators of this dastardly act.”
