Amarah Kennedy, a Lagos-based businessman, has been invited by the Lagos State Police Command to testify on the distribution of nude pictures of his ex-girlfriends.
According to reports, Kennedy has kept spreading the naked pictures of two single mothers with whom he once had ties.
He was accused of sending the explicit images of one of the women, just known as Kester, to a church WhatsApp group.
Additionally, he forwarded the pictures to her late husband’s office and relatives. It is believed that he has sent the pictures to no less than 48 persons.
“By the time I am done, suicide will be her only option,” The Punch said, quoting Amarah Kennedy.
His girlfriend has confirmed that Kennedy did send the pictures but says she has received phone calls from her pastor and in-laws consoling her.
The police has since intervened in the matter. In a series of tweets, the Lagos Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, urged Kennedy to turn himself in for questioning.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, yesterday Tuesday, July 4, 2023 met with the survivor of this ugly incident in his office.
“The CP, while assuring the survivor of justice, has directed the Police Medical Services, Lagos State Command to provide her with adequate psychosocial support.
“The suspect, Amarah Kennedy, is advised to submit himself to prove his innocence as failure to do so will result in deploying all law enforcement machinery available to secure his apprehension and prosecution accordingly.
“Meanwhile, the officer, Inspector Raphael Edeifo, accused of demanding money to take up the case at Pen Cinema has been handed over to the Provost for investigation and orderly room trial, if found culpable.
“CP Owohunwa has given firm assurances that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure that the long arm of the law catches up with the suspect.”
