The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, says the command has launched an investigation into the cache of arms seized at the Onne Port.

He also announced that a former militant leader, “General” Asabuja, has been declared wanted by the force over the alleged forceful takeover of the 23 local government areas of the state, following a political crisis after their tenure in office elapsed and the appointment of the Caretaker Committee Chairman by Governor Fubara.
Amid the political disagreements in the state, Olatunji Disu cautioned all parties and their supporters to respect the rule of law.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, declared that his men will keep barricading all local government secretariats.
He revealed that police officers won’t be allowed to leave the headquarters until a court ruling has been made regarding the dispute surrounding the terms of local government council chairs in the state.
According to Egbetokun, the force were not there to threaten anyone but rather to maintain peace and order.
The force reaffirmed the commitment to taking preventative action in order to stop any increase in violence.
