The Ondo State Government has declared Friday a public holiday for state employees ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
This was revealed in a statement on Thursday, headed “Declaration of Friday, November 15, 2024, as work-free day in Ondo State,” written by F. Ayodele, Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service.
The decision, according to the administration, will allow state public personnel to travel to their respective localities to carry out their civic responsibilities.
“The 2024 Governorship Election in Ondo State has been scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission to be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
“To this end, the Ondo State Government has declared Friday, November 15, 2024, as Work-Free Day for Public Servants in the State to enable them to travel to their various communities to exercise their civic responsibilities,” it partly read.
It also directed that “All accounting officers are to note the content of this circular and disseminate the same to all staff of their respective ministries, departments, and agencies.”
