Doctor Olufemi Olaleye, the Medical Director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday by the Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja for the defilement of his wife’s niece.

After finding him guilty of defilement and sexual penetration of a 15-year-old girl, Justice Rahman Oshodi sentenced him to life imprisonment.

The judge ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt and that all of the evidence presented in court confirmed the victim’s.

The Lagos State Government filed charges against Olaleye on two counts of defilement and sexual assault by penetration of his wife’s niece.

On November 30, 2022, the convict was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Dr. Babajide Martins, the Director of Public Prosecutions, told the court that Olaleye committed the crimes between February 2020 and November 2021.

He stated that the crime occurred at No. 17, Layi Ogunbambi Close, Maryland, Lagos State.

Olaleye was accused of having illegal sexual relations with his wife’s 15-year-old niece.

He was also accused of sexually assaulting the adolescent by inserting his penis into her mouth.

According to the prosecution, the acts committed violated Sections 137 and 261 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.

Following his not guilty plea, Justice Oshodi granted him bail in the sum of N50 million with two sureties in the same amount who must own land in Lagos State.

The judge also ordered that both sureties submit proof of tax payments to the Lagos state government in the previous three years.

Olaleye was also ordered by Justice Oshodi to deposit his international passport, including his British passport, and original documentation of landed property with the court’s registrar.

During the trial, the convict’s wife, Aderemi Olaleye, testified in court that her husband had sexually abused her niece while she was staying with them.

She testified that the convict first exposed the victim to pornography and oral sex before injecting sperm into her mouth.

She stated that it began in March 2020 and would last until July 2021.

According to the witness, the girl told a relative and their driver that the doctor had been sleeping with her and threatened to murder her and the witness if she told anyone.

The mother of two, who is the complainant, said on oath, “My lord, on November 27, 2021, my second cousin told my aunty, who is my mother’s sister, that since March 2020, Femi has been sexually abusing her and introduced her to pornography; from there, he graduated to oral sex with her, and that he does this in different places in the home where there are no cameras.”
